Salem City Schools is seeking licensed teachers to provide a continuity of educational services to students receiving homebound/home-based instruction.  The homebound teacher is responsible for coordinating the provision of instruction with the student, school personnel, classroom teachers, and parents. Homebound teachers interested in working with middle and high school students in the areas of Mathematics and Special Education are most needed.  Homebound teachers have a flexible schedule with an hourly wage.

 

Applicants for homebound teaching positions must: 

• hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License;
• have a broad background of professional training and experience to adapt instruction to each student’s need;
• have the ability to adjust to varied home situations;
• have experience and expertise with Mircosoft Office, email and in using technology in education;
• have strong written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills; and
• be able to work effectively with parents and families.

Teaching licensed preferred.  5-10 hours per week.
