COORDINATOR OF STUDENT SERVICES
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK:
Performs difficult professional work assisting in the operation of the student services program; does related work as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Student Services. Performs difficult professional and intermediate administrative work assisting in the department of Student Services in meeting state and federal requirements. Assists student services personnel in developing and facilitating services to maximize student growth and achievement for all students and provides leadership in activities and programs as necessary; does related work as required. This is an exempt position as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act. Employees holding exempt positions often are required to follow a flexible work schedule, which may include working extended hours to meet specific job responsibilities. The contracted salary covers all hours worked.
This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires standing, walking, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:
Assisting the Director of Student Services in developing and maintaining an effective educational, behavioral and mental health programs consistent with state and federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies and goals of the school board. The Coordinator of Student Services also…..
- Provides student services support for school staff;
- Oversees and provides direct support to social workers and school counselors;
- Organizes and oversee contractual services;
- Serves as the foster care liaison;
- Serves on the CPMT team;
- Oversees the Substance Abuse and Intervention Programming;
- Provides guidance on the school division’s Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting that is listed in School Board Policy;
- Oversees Restraint and Seclusion policies and procedures;
- Manages related mental health grants;
- Generates reports to meet federal, state, and local reporting requirements;
- Is knowledgeable of current trends, issues, and best practices related to student services;
- Assists the Director of Student Services in the evaluation of the programming and assist in providing coaching and professional learning opportunities to student services staff;
- Supervises the division’s physical and mental health services;
- Serves on committees as requested, selected, or assigned;
- Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures relating to student services; comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of school administration; knowledge of state and federal regulations; high level of energy and passion for serving students; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, teachers and administrators.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Postgraduate Professional license with preferred emphasis in social work or school counseling, and endorsement in school administration.
